64% Say "this past year has been NUTS!"

I just read an article about how more and more men under 40 are having heart attacks. It was an article from Men’s Health that came out a couple of weeks ago.

Check out this quick video to see my response to this and my suggestions on how to operate in this crazy world with less stress.

The article struck me because I was surprised to learn that more men under the age of 40 are having heart attacks!

They tell some very compelling stories in the article and they conducted a survey.

I’m curious as to how you would respond to this survey:

Are you more stressed now than you used to be?

64% responded “this past year has been nuts!”

Only 34% said “I’ve got it figured out and under control.” Really? I wonder if that’s really true.

Is This the Most Stressful Time Ever?

The article mentions that we could be living in the most stressful time ever. It’s been my experience that every generation that comes along thinks it’s the most stressful time ever, but this world is pretty nuts right now!

If you were to scan a news feed and look at the top articles, it’s bewildering! You’d probably be asking “what am I supposed to do with all of this?”

More importantly, what is all this information, social media, technology, etc. doing to us?

I’ll leave that to all the studies and surveys to answer.

A Question we CAN Answer

A question we ask ourselves at Live Truly Free, and a question we CAN answer is

What am I here for and what am I intended for?

Or, another way to ask it:

“What on earth am I here for?”

These questions do remarkable things! They take us out of the day to day, tactical stuff to the over arching direction of our lives.

We DON’T have to do some deep introspective, belly button gazing deep inner self dive!

We just need to shift our gaze from all the craziness of the world, to remembering our passions and ultimately, our purpose

Pause and think about this for a moment:

What is something you truly believe in that is transcendent of the day to day?

With all the buzz of all this crazy world, this question gets lost. But, stay with it! Please!

We need YOU to reconnect with this. To make this world a little less crazy!

Here's an Idea for you to Try

Pause. Just pause and settle for a moment. Yes, even in the midst of the craziness, just pause. Yes, quiet yourself.

I like British mysteries and a common thing you’ll hear the characters say is “I’d like a cup of tea.” Apparently, that’s very relaxing!

So maybe a cup of tea would do you good! Sometimes, the exhaustion of the crazy world screams for us to take a nap. A nap!?! How lavish would that be?

As you pause, think about: “who am I meant to be?”

When I do this...

Suddenly I begin to hear all these other voices from the crazy world that are telling me who I’m supposed to be, or how I’m supposed to be doing ‘it’, or worse, what I’m supposed to be thinking.

As you quiet these voices, think about:

What does my soul need? Right now!

Maybe it is that cup of tea. Maybe it’s taking a moment to pause and remember that summer vacation you just got back from that feels like it was a year ago. Maybe it’s a bubble bath.

Whatever it is, please take a moment for a little soul care.

And, let me know how it goes. I’d love to hear how you’d answer the survey question: "Are you more stressed now than you used to be?"

Just post your response in the comments below.

And may you Live, Truly Free!
