Have you considered ‘finding more joy and freedom in your life’ something to pursue in 2020?

Notice I didn’t say ‘resolution’ or ‘goal’. Most of us don’t make it past February with those.

What if you set More Joy and Freedom as your theme for 2020?

What if this is the year you decide to uncover more joy and freedom that is available to you and begin to live into it?

First, let me declare that there is more joy and freedom available for you.

The reason most aren’t accessing more joy and freedom is because they keep themselves too busy.

Jobs, careers, activities, over commitments, internet, facebook, etc…

And we forget what we’re here for, or maybe we never knew.

What if you knew your calling? What if you had a vision for your life?

Can you imagine how doing something you love could change your way of life?

One way to bring more joy and freedom into your life:

Choose to live more fully into your calling and your passions.

In the movie The Legend of Bagger Vance, Bagger refers to something similar as our “authentic swing.”

(Check out the video clip I’ve included at the bottom of this blog to see Bagger Vance, played by Will Smith, explain what he means by “authentic swing”. You will love it!)

In my book The Next Level Entrepreneur I explain the difference between jobs, careers, and callings. Here’s an excerpt:

“…the jobs or work we do may simply be about earning a good living, and may not be the ultimate fulfillment of who we are, since that could occur elsewhere in our lives.

However, there is the possibility there could be   more, much more: living a fully integrated life as your true self…”

~ Taken from page 85 of The Next Level Entrepreneur

I go on to explain the difference between jobs, careers, and callings and explain that callings spring from the deepest and truest parts of who we are.

You see by living into these callings we will find greater fulfillment as the person we are intended to be.

Warning:

But let me warn you, this is risky and requires believing what you’re here for - who you’re intended to be. Whenever, we stretch for more we can be disappointed, in fact we should probably expect it.

But you can learn to turn disappointments into the fuel that propels you further into your calling. Then, you’re defying the odds and headed toward rarified air.

That’s why most of us prefer to settle: it’s comfortable or safe or predictable. And we miss the adventure of living into our complete self, and settle for the routine of a dull life!

Our Hope:

As entrepreneurs, our hope is to blend our calling into our work. But as Bagger points out that even if we do our calling “gets buried”.

So, whether your calling is found or not found in your work, you must make time for yourself to do more of what you are called to do.

This will invite more joy and freedom into your life

Live into Your Calling in 2020, but how?

Begin by reconnecting with your passions and calling.

Simply remembering would be a great start! Over the years we can forget, because we’re so caught up in the day to day.

A great tool to help you is my Dreams to Success Guide.

It is a FREE ebook that walks you through some exercises to help you focus, based on excerpts from my book: The Next Level Entrepreneur.

You can download it at the bottom of this blog.

Then schedule some time on your calendar to do all the exercises in The Dreams to Success Guide.

Write down your answers to the prompts! That makes them more real.

Download The Guide and get started today!

Don’t let this become something that you say “I’ll do that when I have time for it.”

This is urgent! Your hope and freedom depend on it.

This isn’t something you do when everything else is done. We all know that everything else will never be done.

So make 2020 a year of joy and freedom! Uncover the passions that fuel your calling and spend more time fulfilling those passions.

As Bagger Vance said about authentic swing (passions and calling):

“Inside each and every one of us is one true, authentic swing.

Something we were born with. Something that’s ours and ours alone.

Something that can’t be taught to you or learned.

Something that’s got to be remembered.

Over time the world can rob us of that swing and

it gets buried inside us under all our woulda’s and coulda’s and shoulda’s.

Some folk even forget what their swing was like.”

~ From the movie The Legend of Bagger Vance
